Lamp Bulb

What about all these Darn Light Bulbs?

Light Bulbs … all they need, but what about all the differences? How confusing are all options! Remember when you went to the grocery store and there were only three types of bread was not white, wheat and rye? Now, how many different types of bread are available to you at the supermarket? Maybe 10 times higher than the original 3 guys? Well, that's the same route of the bulb.

I seen as defining a light bulb: It is a removable and replaceable component of a light fixture designed to produce heat source of electricity to both visible and invisible electromagnetic energy, base made of a ceramic, metal, glass or plastic, which makes an electrical connection to the power of a lamp. Hurray! In fact, anyone but an engineer that cares about everyone, which is important for us is, what it is and how long?

Definitions, we first cleaned a small thing. A lamp is not a light fixture … is a "bulb," a source of light. Despite speech almost every day everyone on the planet, there is no such thing as a desk lamp, "unless it is a focus on a table. The so-called" light table " accessory is actually a "light table" compatible "… I know, I know … not a very attractive name, so everyone used "lamp table! "Well, this is not the first time I've gone against the flow … one of these days I'll learn better. Back to the subject matter …

Common most of all light bulbs is the measurement of efficiency, measured in lumens per watt, which "lumens" is the amount of light emission per watt of input power. The life of the bulbs' is measured in hours of operation. Another measure is the "color rendering index (CRI) measured on a scale of 0-100, with 100 being the most ideal light for humans. The lower the power, the longer the lamp will last, and lower emissions light so you should "balance" your portfolio bulb … get the proper wattage for lighting requirements needed for your location. Note the list of max. size of the Lamp "for the lamp you are using, and do not exceed this power, you can use less power but not more. Do not operate with the same lamp power, or must purchase the same power that is "used to buy", tells the location and what lighting is really necessary, but will save you money. In addition to considering these important elements, it is important not to increase the amount of lighting, More light is not necessarily better. Too much light can give you headaches, increased stress, increased blood pressure, and actually decrease the efficiency of workers. Now, let's look at the different types of lamps could be seen at home.

The standard incandescent bulb or a lamp, by the experiments of the 1800s, is what we are accustomed to seeing in our homes, our businesses, particularly the use of fluorescent lighting. Incandescent lamps are very inefficient, less than 3% of the input energy is converted into visible light. Some countries, like Australia and USA want to ban these bulbs in a few years which, of course, is great its crazy! Why not let the market and capitalism take care of these things, of course, rather than unnecessary government interference? Incandescent lamps also produce a large amount of heat so you must pay more money to run your air conditioning system to eliminate this excess heat in a cold climate, that may not be necessary but in warm climates, is an increase in costs.

The halogen lamp is basically an improved incandescent lamp, but with a couple of negatives. They may explode and cause burns or even fire more than a standard incandescent bulb can. Do not ever touch the halogen bulb if it burns or not, allowing the oil fingers from touching the glass will make life short or explosions.

The lamp fluorescent lamp is a much more efficient, because the same amount of light output, is set to 1 / 4 to 1 / 3 the amount of energy. The popular "lamp compact fluorescent "or CFL has been around since the 1980s. Fluorescent lamps last 10 to 20 times higher than incandescent lamps. Some people do not like the noise sometimes noticeable or the color of light in these lamps … Please see below in the color of light, color options are available for You now. More fluorescent lamp with a high degree Kelvin (4000K or higher) qualification is a good option and it looks good, people are not opposed to the high color Kelvin. While extremist environmentalists push to ban incandescent bulbs in favor of these fluorescent lamps, I guess I have to simply ignore fact that fluorescent lamps contain a small amount of mercury, although there have been horror stories of a house that became a "Superfund site" on the rupture of a simple single light bulb … a little common sense would help here.

LED lamps are becoming a good source light but still have some problems to overcome the force of illumination. Have been used in instrument panels since the 1970s, but so far lighting space, we need a few more years to develop their production levels. It is used to not being able to emit white light (single color), but this limitation was set light to issues that others will also improve production soon. Its cost is high but they last a long time, for example, a PAR-38 incandescent lamp can cost $ 8 each and last 4000 hours, while an LED PAR-38 would cost $ 30 each and the last hour 50 000 … so at 4 times the cost, we obtain 12 times life is not … bad business. LEDs also produce very little heat and less energy much less, but the wave of the future.

There are other types of lamps, namely, mercury vapor, metal halide, high pressure sodium, low pressure sodium, carbon-arc discharge lamps and actually rarely see residential lighting situations, so I will not include in this article in particular. If you have questions about any of these, please drop me a email and we'll be happy to answer your questions.

Now, let the lamp light color, which is critical to most people, but most do not know anything about it. Color temperature is the characteristic of visible light and is expressed in degrees Kelvin (K). With this system, the greater the number – Whiter light, and the lower the number – more red, yellow or light pink. Incandescent lamps burning "cool", which is in a lower degree Kelvin, which gives it a more reddish or yellow light. When it comes to most people objections to fluorescent lighting, ie the color of light, there are now four main categories of attention a. "Warm White" (WW) fluorescent lamps are rosy. "Improvement in White" (EW) Fluorescent lamps are called neutral color, while "Cool White" (CW) lamps are more of a white light and thus are very popular. Also there is a "daylight white" (DW) fluorescent lamp is a white to light blue. A lot of compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) tend to be more "Warm white" and some have a more yellowish cast like an incandescent light bulb for CFL I recommend you buy the highest degree Kelvin (K) the lamp you can find. The following table reflects (pun intended) the color of light and color is associated temperature indicated in degrees Kelvin (K), a smaller number more pink or yellow light … the higher the number, the whiter the light.

1700K flame of a match
1850K candle
2800K incandescent bulbs
3400K light for study photofloods
4100K moon light
5000K warm sunshine typical
5770K sunlight
Typical 5800K cool daylight
6500K daylight

Therefore, I hope I have clarified some of the water "muddy" revolves around the bulbs so you can see better what is happening (Pun again). You should be able to look at the packaging of your light bulbs and have better what they are buying, and ask yourself: Is this the bulb light right in my place?

Oh yes, please get me a loaf of bread … I like "Honey Wheat game."
