The 3 Different Photography Careers
If you love photography you may be looking for a career in the field. You will find 3 main areas of photography in which you there are careers, these include; general, commercial and advertising. You should go into the area that best suits you.
If you have had any training experience, such as classes or courses then you should be able to have a lot of success in the commercial/advertising area.
General photographers are most commonly the ones who own their own business and work from home as it were. These types of photographers do not tend to use this job as their sole income and will most likely not have a shop front. The various types of work these photographers will shoot would include weddings, such as Birmingham Wedding Photographer, senior portraits and family portraits. General photography will help you do freelance work, usually for commercial business.
Commercial photographers work for business rather than the community. This will include woing work for catalogues, newspapers, architectural businesses, and pretty much can be any corporations that need photographs taken. These may be part of the company staff, or work freelance on some sort of contract. Freelances generally have more flexible hours but cannot rely on steady income like staff photographers. If you plan on working as a commercial photographer then you will most likely specialize in a certain area, such as food or concerts.
And as for advertising photographers, they will help a company to advertise. They may find it hard breaking into this area of the job field, but they will be able to get high rates of exposure when they do break into the market. You will see their names all over the place, from magazines, tv shows and even billboards. Advertising photography is however very difficultfor anyone to get into, you will have to find out how to climb the ladder to find the success you are looking for and will take a lot of time and effort.
Before choosing what area you want a career in, make sure to do some research first to find out which would be best suited to you.

Photography studio owners do you get kids(who are seniors) call and make appointments for senior protraits?
And do the kids pick on what they want as there protrait or they take any set you have already up?
Depends on the studio. Some studios are of a certain price range or specialty that they don't often shoot students, however, most do work with seniors getting senior portraits done at some point.
As for the setting, that depends. If a student just wants one photo taken, many will simply go with a pre-designed setup.
However, most seniors get a variety of shots in a variety of settings -- Some, like me, don't care about having the photos done too much -- I'd rather take photos than be photographed; whereas my sister had over 200 shots done for her senior year.
Many seniors like to have outdoor shots done, or shots unique to their tastes. When a senior is looking to have photos done, and they want a few different shots, they usually like to be creative -- with the help of the photographer -- to use a variety of poses, backdrops, and accessories.
One of my recent favorites was a photo of a senior sitting on a chair in a river with a waterfall in the background. He was dressed in a suit with a book in his hand, posed naturally. I asked about it -- he feels it comprised all the different facets of his personality in a way that represents him best.
Shots like that are hard to set up beforehand. It's best that a photographer is open to changes and creativity from seniors they shoot.
